As the fifty-ninth feature on the Fresh Dose. blog, we are introducing the ever-so-talented Zodi Keesh.
Each week Fresh Dose. will be featuring a new artist from our playlist on our blog to highlight great independent talent.
We asked Zodi Keesh five questions to help us understand a little more about her song titled Ms. Handled.
1: Choose 3 words that best describe you as an artist?
Experimental, intuitive, honest
2. What was the story or inspiration for writing this record?
Ms. Handled was inspired by a common experience of not being fully respected, appreciated or handled correctly in relationships. As a woman, I wanted to speak to the confusion and contradictions we face trying to be with men. Many men don’t know what to do or how to engage in harmony with our nature.
3: Shout out section - who’s your favourite independent artist we should listen out for?
My favorite independent artist right now is Iniko! They are so talented and creative. I’m inspired by their freedom of self expression and confidence because it allows for such a full and pure expression of the art. That’s something rare.
4: What’s your other favourite record on this week's top 20? Why?
Apart from my own 😂 I really love PTSD (Remix) by Olivia and Marcus. Their voices play together perfectly over the guitar. I also love how it’s a really mellow vibe with relatable lyrics. If I could pick a second favorite it’s Butterfly Pen but I have too many reasons to type here.
5. Our sister organization @hyper_tribe is all about creating the next generation of artists, what piece of advice would you give to them that helped you the most in your music career?
One piece of advice I’d give to any other striving artists is do it for the love of it. Creative expression is a gift and it’s important to spend energy being grateful for that. Be thankful that you have the ability to translate your imagination into something that you can share and enjoy with people. If you create in that energy, the goals you want to reach in music will naturally materialize through you.
