As the fifty-second feature on the Fresh Dose. blog, we are introducing the ever so talented George David.
Each week Fresh Dose. will be featuring a new artist from our playlist on our blog to highlight great independent talent.
We asked George David five questions to help us understand a little more about his song titled Gin & Tonics.
1: Choose 3 words that best describe you as an artist?
Honest, storyteller, relaxed
2. What was the story or inspiration for writing this record?
Gin & Tonics is the 3rd to last song on my upcoming EP, Three Months. It’s a concept EP about a girl I met and a relationship we started but she ended up going back to Australia for 3 months. The whole EP tells the story of that relationship, from the first date all the way through to dropping her off at Heathrow. G&Ts is about our last night together, reminiscing about our time together, helping her pack and sharing our last meal before she leaves.
My next release comes out on 1 July and it’s called Fingertips - keep an eye out!
3: Shout out section - who’s your favourite independent artist we should listen out for?
My mate Hugo FL Bennett is a great producer and songwriter - just needs to release more (hint hint Hugo). Had the pleasure of sharing the stage recently with Marie Naffah, she’s a talented lady. She has just released a great new EP and recently played 50 gigs in 50 days in the UK once Covid lockdown had settled down - she has a short film coming out documenting it. Check it out!
4: What’s your other favourite record on this week's top 20? Why?
Scoobert Doobert - Who Am I Fooling Anyway. Some great harmonies, nice filtered vocals and sexy use of chords
5. Our sister organization @hyper_tribe is all about creating the next generation of artists, what piece of advice would you give to them that helped you the most in your music career?
Don’t force it - inspiration comes at unexpected times. Voice note everything you start writing. Enjoy the process. If I feel demoralised, I like to think is that one of your own songs will be someone’s favourite song - the aim is to get it to them. Fans are always your biggest allies!
