We asked Taabu three questions to help us understand a little more about his process behind Ooey Gooey.
1: Choose 3 words that best describe you as an artist?
Taabu is energetic. Loud. Rhythmic.
2. What was your inspiration for writing this record?
Ooey Gooey’s production was inspired heavily by modern Pop and Hip Hop crossover. Yummy by Justin Bieber was a huge inspiration for the production. The lyrics, written by Omega Mighty, were largely inspired by her “hubby;” basking in a love that’s so delicious.
3: Shout out section - who’s your favourite independent artist we should listen out for?
Haviah Mighty without question deserves way more recognition for her talent, writing and capability. Everything she touches turns into gold.
4: What’s your other favourite record on this week's Fresh Dose. Top 20?
Queen Bee by Lauren Sanderson. Killer record; catchy like a nursery rhyme, clever lyrics, production and sonics are on point. Lauren’s got this gritty edge to her voice that’s very intriguing and pulls you in to this record.
