Featured Artist #45: Introducing 4 The Brotherhood on Fresh Dose.

As the forty-fifth feature on the Fresh Dose. blog, we are introducing the ever so talented 4 The Brotherhood.

Each week Fresh Dose. will be featuring a new artist from our playlist on our blog to highlight great independent talent.

We asked 4 The Brotherhood five questions to help us understand a little more about his song titled Next To You.

Listen on Freshdose.

1: Choose 3 words that best describe you as an artist?

Refreshing, charismatic, summery

2. What was the story or inspiration for writing this record?

I wanted this record to embody the euphoria you first felt around that one person you liked. Then reliving that feeling again years later after seeing them again. You know the one where your heart drops into your stomach. “Next To You” is that feeling.

3: Shout out section - who’s your favourite independent artist we should listen out for?

@daisywolfmusic

4: What’s your other favourite record on this week's top 20? Why?

Palmaria - chameleon

The euphoric energy of this track has such a lucid dreamy feel. Feels like one of those songs from an Apppe advert that I’d be scrabbling to find my phone to Shazam it. So unique and I’m definitely inspired after listening.

5. Our sister organization @hyper_tribe is all about creating the next generation of artists, what piece of advice would you give to them that helped you the most on your music career?

Be BOLD! Go against the grain. Your music won’t be for everyone and that’s OK! The sooner you stop trying to cater for everyone the better.

Also, accept the reality that this music process is a journey not a race. Keep making and releasing the music that YOU love to make and you WILL get discovered.

As an independent artist it’s so easy to get caught up in algorithms and numbers when you should be proud of the fact YOU released YOUR song. From songwriting to production to mix/ master I think artists have one of the toughest jobs in the world and I feel like not enough credit is given to us.

Don’t wait for a label. Release as if you’re already signed. Invest in yourself and the people that see your vision and you’ll go far for sure.
