We asked Anou four questions to help us understand a little more about her song titled How to Love.
1: Choose 3 words that best describe you as an artist?
three words i’d use to describe myself as an artist: vulnerable, honest, and expressive / spontaneous.
2. What was the story or inspiration for writing this record?
I wrote how to love after my first heartbreak. I was completely emotionally obliterated and I wrote this in the aftermath of making sense of a half love that didn't feel that healthy. As I navigated my life without that person, I realized my resilience and felt empowered on my own. This song is about reconnecting with oneself after experiencing intense hurt and realizing the beauty in the messiness of healing.
3: Shout out section - who’s your favourite independent artist we should listen out for?
fav independent artist right now is runo plum and another one i really love at the moment is alaska reid (although she’s signed!)
4: What’s your other favourite record on this week's top 20? Why?
i love Eli’s song “too much” !!
