As the seventeenth feature on the Fresh Dose. blog, we are introducing the ever so talent Kinnoha.
Each week Fresh Dose. will be featuring a new artist from our playlist on our blog to highlight great independent talent.
We asked Kinnoha three questions to help us understand a little more about her song Women Are Medicine.
1: Choose 3 words that best describe you as an artist?
Wordsmith, passionate, unapologetic
2. What was your inspiration for writing this record?
With ‘Women are medicine’ I wanted to re-imagine the concept of how women are thought of as life givers and carers, and to celebrate that. Women have stunning auras, we know how to be sexy, how to be soft and hard at the same time. Women are strong because we have to be, the world isn’t always kind to us and you develop a thick skin but a lot of women maintain that instinctive superpower to protect and nourish a partner or children, that’s the message behind the song, looking at how women handle all the shit thrown their way and still have love to give.. that’s badass healing energy!!
3: Shout out section - who’s your favourite independent artist we should listen out for?
Topaz Jones, the beats and vocal melodies are *chefs kiss*
4: What’s your other favourite record on this week's Fresh Dose. Top 20?
‘CRAZY’ by Somebody’s Child. The first line “I’m such a fucking loser in my head” hooked me, super relatable lyrics and lovely loose guitar loops. I felt like I was in a summer montage scene in a movie listening to it ☀️🍦
